Greetings, everyone! Today, in this lesson, you will learn how to use CachedView, a search aggregator for web archives, to access archived or cached copies of web resources. I’ll guide ya’ll through the process with clear steps and examples. So let’s start..
Step 1: Accessing CachedView
Open your web browser and go to https://cachedview.nl/.
Step 2: Entering the Website URL
In the search bar provided, type in the URL of the website you want to explore. I’ll test my own medium profile URL for this lesson.
Step 3: Exploring Cached Versions
Once you’ve entered the website URL, it will automatically start loading the cache versions for the target URL.
Step 4: Viewing Cached Versions
CachedView will display a list of archived or cached versions of the website from different sources such as Google Webcache, Wayback Machine, Library of Congress, Perma.cc, Live Version and Archive today.
Step 5: Selecting a Version
Review the list of cached versions and select the one you’re interested in exploring further.
Step 6: Exploring the Cached Version
Click on the selected cached version to view the archived copy of the website.
Step 7: Analyzing the Archived Content
Take some time to explore the archived version of the website. Notice any differences compared to the current version. (In the current case, we can notice the uploaded content & Followers count is different in archived version.)
Archived Version is a historical copy of a web page stored in a web archive.
Step 8: Additional Features
CachedView may offer additional features such as saving or sharing the cached version, or accessing related resources.
Step 9: Taking Screenshots
If you want to capture the archived content for reference, you can take screenshots using your device’s screenshot functionality.
